Buon Giorno!
Binge watch this weekend!
I so enjoy when art imitates life. Of course that’s the purpose of the development and writing teams for TV shows, original series and films. Pop Culture, right?
Well– they hit it on the mark with this one.
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” new HIT series on Amazon is so incredibly timely given our unsettled nation. This superbly written and acted show has a powerful premise and lead character that speaks volumes to the disruption in consciousness we are experiencing today. Look at the #metoo movement and this past weekend’s 2nd annual nationwide Women’s March.
Major U.S. history is being documented as we sit here. Our future daughters and nieces will look to 2017-2018 as the year when women raised their voice to finally be heard.
Dignity.
Count me in! I am a new fan of this brilliant show. We have Rachel Brosnahan to thank for the portrayal of this rebellious, strong, independent ballsy woman.
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is about a young married upscale Jewish woman during the 50s in NYC where her entire existence was about serving her husband and children; and a career was unheard of.
Back then for most Jewish women – as I was raised, their goal in life was to marry wealthy, have interests, go to college (maybe), hangout with women friends, and be taken care of by their husband.
There was no such thing as what we know life to be today where women have vast resources to create fulfilling careers that pay well and the need to be married just to be financially secure is of the past.
So where am I going with all this and what is the message for you, your life, business and brand?
Mrs. Maisel is a no B.S. thought leader who is changing the conversation and trajectory of women’s place in society set in the 50s – and her actions speak loudly as such. (Go watch the 1st season on Amazon!)
For your brand to stand out, what statement, cause, or movement can you attach yourself to?
Genuine, impactful, and inspiring personal brands are willing to “step out and be heard” even if it feels uncertain and vulnerable.
We are agents of change.
Over the next few years the saturation online will need your leadership to implement change on small and large levels in your own industry and that of humanity.
That is a thought leader.
Branding Solution: Be a change agent.
Influencers/thought leaders are the informed opinion leaders and the go-to people in their field of expertise.
They are trusted sources who move and inspire people with innovative ideas; turn ideas into reality, and show how to replicate their success.
It began with a rumbling in 2015 when leaders, icons, and powerful influencers of many kinds were predicting the masses were headed for a big shift in how people show up online and through their brands.
Why?
The bubble is about to burst they claimed. Congestion. Diluted messaging. Too much noise online. There is no barrier to entry to be called an expert. The questions were flying “How do you stand above the noise and be heard?”
The answer: Change the conversation. Now.
This is not new news anymore. Many are taking action now. What one action will you do this week and next and the next week to change the conversation online (social media) where you not only carve out your own brand perception, but you become a voice for others to follow?
Share with me your thoughts.
Brand influence is another example of creative renewal. When you birth a new brand or raise the standards on your current one – you move to a higher level of impact.
