The human spirit is so fascinating. Don’t you agree? You just never know what lights people up and to what degree. So it is with mentoring my high achieving creatives who come into my programs eager and ready to grow, change, do things differently, create better results, and rid themselves of overwhelm, discontent, and frustration.
They know on some level they need to evolve and up-level personally, spiritually, and financially. They soon learn personal growth always precedes business growth. They just have no idea how to do that or what’s in store for them. That’s the magic in the work I do in the world. I love to see and experience THAT magic with every client.
Even I don’t know exactly what will transpire for them during their mentoring that will change the trajectory of their business and life, but it’s so incredibly rewarding to see it happen each time with no exception. It’s really a miracle how all this transformation happens mainly by knowing the right questions to ask, listening to what’s not being said while guiding them intuitively to their next level in a systematic, yet compassionate approach.
When Juan Castro, leading DJ/MC talent for Orange County based Invisible Touch Events owned by Robert Arthur, jumped into his VIP Creative Entrepreneur Success Program, he had no idea what was in store for him. BUT he had strong “signs” along the way that he made the right decision to hire me as his mentor.
Seriously, the night he was considering enrolling in the program as he walked out of the hotel after my private invite-only creative renewal dinner event, he looked up just at that moment to witness a shooting star blazing across the black sky. And, weeks prior to my event and meeting in person, Juan had been seeking answers to his discontent in how he was making decisions personally and professionally. Although he had a creatively fulfilling career as DJ/MC for weddings and corporate events then (and now) and was surely headed in the right direction, he was constantly on the fence of what was best for him vs. self-sabotaging his best efforts and intentions. He was puzzled about this behavior and was determined to find the answer to this crazy-making!
I found in the 10 years of mentoring and coaching, we all have this behavior to some degree. It’s core to our humanness. And, there are solutions.
So here’s a before and after look of Juan going through the program that I know will inspire you. When I asked him what his most profound changes in his mindset and decision were making abilities as a result of the five months together, he gave this answer:
- Truly operating in my genius zone, not listening to ego, and alignment with my truth
- My relationship with money
- Spiritual awareness and living in a higher vibration
“Before the program: Honestly, I didn’t really value money. I had no relationship with it. I just saw it for what it was “paper” and an exchange for goods and services. I was not confident in my money conversations when it came to charging my clients. Money felt like a taboo thing you didn’t talk about. I did not track my money nor know my numbers. I would just receive it, have it in one account and spent accordingly.
After the program: It was a complete 180 for me, I was able to truly understand what the real purpose of money is. Money at its purist form is energy. It is how we are blessed for our products or services that we provide others and how we bless other people with it. Tangibly it is “paper” but at its purist form, it a blessing. I have so much respect for it now and I understand that money is abundant therefore; I don’t “fear” not being able to attain it. I now treat it accordingly by tracking it, organizing it and planning for it.
Really changing paradigms in how I think and act with money changed my life and Marla did just that; she was able to truly help me understand how money really works. Really profound and powerful how she was able to do that.”
My approach to mentoring the entrepreneur is very holistic. Meaning, we integrate all of who you are into everything you do so there is less of splintering and more fulfillment and ease. This is done by first replacing old habits, behaviors and mindset with new, more congruent ones that create results in your favor. The spiritual component of life cannot be ignored, especially in your business life, because who you are there is who you are everywhere. There’s a common denominator in all you do – it’s you. Therefore, we discuss Universal Laws of Energy and Quantum Physics. This is a vital part to manifesting your desires and goals as Juan learned.
“This program really woke me up spiritually more than anything. I make decisions much differently now given the new perspective I have, and I will always be a work in progress. I am far removed from where I was before the mentoring. The key to this is once you have been woken up spiritually the rest comes easy to understand and apply. All this said, my core purpose in mentoring creatives is developing leaders who are role models for their peers and industry, thus making an impact beyond my own sphere. Juan is a born leader who I was privileged to up-level into his next phase so he could inspire others to strive for fulfillment and success at a higher level. He has become a “light” for others who are ready for the wisdom. So proud of this guy!
And so it is with transforming lives. The path is magical if you just trust in the mentor’s guidance and follow the yellow brick road to your own emerald city.
